Easy Shortcrust Pastry Makes 450 g of pastry This delicate pastry can be used to make all kinds of tarts Ingredients 200 g (1 3/4 cups) flour 150 g (3/4 cup) butter, cut into cubes 1 egg 3/4 tsp sugar 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp milk Directions Sift the flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until it becomes crumbly. Mix the egg with the vanilla extract and milk then pour the mixture into the flour mixture. Mix until it all comes together into a dough. Transfer the dough onto your work surface and knead with the palm of your hand 2-3 times. Wrap the dough with cling film and chill in the fridge 1 hour before using.
